Looking ahead to our next CD

So I know that we're just about to release Sometimes Things Just Happen (our 1st CD with Brian and Steve) at Molly Malones on January 7th and promoting it to the WORLD is our primary focus, but we've recently finished recording basic tracks for our next CD entitled Lost in the "Everyday" and I've begun the arduous task of editing the individual tracks to each son.  It's a huge undertaking, but one I'm really looking forward to digging in and working on it.

But there are several things that makes the Lost in the "Everyday" recording different from our previous ones.

It is the first CD we've done from the ground up.  What I mean by that is while some of the songs were already written, some of them were put together for this album, and we rehearsed all songs first, demoed them off, then recorded them as a band.  On every past CD, Oleg and I recorded the music tracks first then had the other members record their parts when they joined the band.  For instance, the music tracks for Sometimes Things Just Happen were finished when Brian Joined the Band.  (3 of the tracks were released on The Letter EP with Louis Trent on Vocals and Matt McJunkins on Bass.)  So our 1st step with him was to have him re-record the Bass.  And when Steve joined the band, we immediately dived in had him re-record the Vocals that Louis had done during his tenure in the band.

It is the first CD that was NOT recorded at Gossamer Studios (my recording studio).  The reason for this was to take us out of our comfort zone and put us in a sink or swim situation.  Sometimes when recording, you become so accustomed to how things are set that you get these little routines and we really wanted to shake things up with this one.  It was recorded at FMM Studios in Temecula, Ca.  Oleg, Brian, Steve, and I stayed overnight in a motel while recording the music tracks.  Steve and I then made the trip out in 4 sessions to record vocals to all but 3 songs which were recently finished at Gossamer Studios.

Lastly, It's the first CD that I didn't have to wear so many hats.  What I mean by that is that on every other recording, I engineered, produced and mixed all of the recordings (with help from the guys, of course.)  But on this CD, I didn't have to engineer. While recording it, I had the luxury of just playing.  And I don't have to mix it.

Lost in the "Everyday" should be released sometime in early summer.  We've already started playing many of the songs from this CD live, and the response to the new material has been great.

For the time being, we're very proud to offer you Sometimes Things Just Happen and hope you all enjoy it.
