Spring into Summer... seems like a blur.
So, for starters I would like to apologize for not writing for a bit. It's been a busy spring, and now summer, for tHe CoNStAnT.
Right after the House of Blues show we knew it was time to buckle down and get the album done. Frank worked diligently with the band, going back and forth with mixes. Once my vocals were laid down we all realized that the mix was going to be WAY different than the last incarnation of 'Sometimes'. We all heard different things. Be it a punchier Bass, or laying down acoustics within the heavy guitars... it was just going to sound different.
I needed to get away for a week so I did Ride the Rockies in Colorado. It's a six day road bicycle ride from Crested Butte, Colorado to Georgetown, Colorado. 412 miles with 22,000 feet of climbing. I would come back to California just in time to do a photoshoot for the new album. It was perfect. It was just the break I needed. I camped out in my tent every day and just reflected on all of the hard work the band had done in the last 6 months.
Frank set the date. A bold move considering what needed to be done. He set up June 28th at Capitol Records to get the Album Mastered. Now we had no choice but to get it done, and we did it. I have to tell you... it sounds magnificent! Robert Vosgien did an amazing job. We don't know what he does, but he does it well. This guy is a genuine nice guy who has mastered for No Doubt, Bush, Queensryche, Frank Black, Bob Seger, Motorhead, The Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the list goes on......
Talk to you soon.
Peace,
Dave
